Zelma D. Benham

November 16, 1925 - June 2, 2019

Zelma Dixie Benham, 93 of Burleson, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2019. Funeral services will be at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Lucas and Blessing Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Burleson Memorial Cemetery. Zelma was born in Inola, Oklahoma on November 16, 1925 to John W. Breedlove and Ava Vicie Butler and grew up in Yonkers, Oklahoma, where she attended Locus Grove High School. Zelma married Denver C. Young in 1944 and raised two daughters in Oklahoma, then moved to Wichita Kansas. Zelma worked for Canteen at Boeing in Wichita where she met Corbin (Benny) Benham. They married in 1972 in Wichita Kansas, later moving to Mulvane, Kansas. When Benny passed away, Zelma moved to Texas with her daughter Sandra to be close to her grandchildren. Zelma loved riding horses when she was young. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, playing cards and dominoes, cooking, going to garage sales, traveling with her sisters and gardening. She was a student of the Bible and loved Jesus! Zelma was preceded in death by her parents, John and Vicie Breedlove; her husband, Benny; her sisters, Ethel Breedlove, Betty Rutledge, Elsie Holland, Trudy Wright and Sue Simmank; her daughter, Sandra Mae Greer; her grandson, Coy C. (Butch) Phillips II; and her grandson, Todd Rhodes. Zelma is survived by her daughter, Patricia Ann Young; her step children, Brad Benham and Pamela Brooks; her brother, Audie Breedlove; her sisters, Marie Cantrell and husband Stan and Linda Taylor; her grandchildren, Diana Stevens, Susan Blackburn and her husband Forrest; Colby Greer and his wife Ashley; her greatgrandchildren, Dustin Call, Nicole Blackburn, Devin Blackburn, Blake Collier, Corey Clark, Drake Rhodes, Savannah Rhodes, Avary Hoogland, Zachary Hoogland, Arizona Greer and Pnina Greer along with 8 great-great grandchildren and lots of nieces and nephews
